Exit Interview

1. Comment about your work ethic in this course and why.
 ...be honest here

I thought I did pretty well for a student. I felt happy to be here and I hope that I see you again pretty soon.

 2. Which assignments did you enjoy and why?
... list them out
1. The game journal: I liked playing the game this time, once I figured out how it worked. It wasn't like the last game, which was completely unforgiving.

2. I also enjoyed the health week assignments as I learned lots about health conditions and whatnot. I also enjoyed playing the little games that were given to me.

3. Google 3D project. Got to design an arcade. Nuff said.

 3. Which assignments did you struggle with and why?
...list them out

The only project I found really hard was the Adobe one. It was kinda tedious to be honest.

Raft 4: Is this Title getting old yet?

1. Starting over

Here's the list by the way:

  1. Collect materials
  2. Craft a plastic cup
  3. Craft the water purifier
  4. Craft a fishing rod and use it to fish
  5. Craft a grill once you get metal
  6. Craft a spear
  7. Craft a building hammer
  8. Craft a plant pot or find a shoe while fishing
  9. Craft a research table and research all the materials you have
  10. Craft a net and scarecrow

2.

The best tool to make is obviously the water purifier, as there's no other way to obtain fresh water.

3.

My raft to date.

Essentials Part II

My raft as it currently looks, as taken from my new observation tower.

Once you develop a pot for your plants, you can grow those potatoes and other tubers by using fresh water. This is nifty as it means you don't have to rely on fish all the time. To make things even nicer, you can research a scarecrow to keep those naughty birds at bay.

To automate collecting and to not make it a struggle, a collection net can be researched to basically do that job for you. It exists simply to be convenient, but it allows you to tend to more important manners, such as NOT DYING.

In other news, I killed a shark in the game yesterday, and while it takes a good while for the meat to cook, it's most definitely worth it.

Raft ESSENTIALS VIDEO COLLECTION

Sharks will sometimes attack your raft, so you will need to craft a spear to keep them at bay.

You will also need to fish and cook. Obtaining both the fishing rod and the barbecue grill will make this a possibility. Collecting fuel for both the grill and the purifier is further assisted by the use of a hook.

Water purifiers are one of the first things you can craft, and are the most important as your water meter will deplete often.

Building a sail allows you to effortlessly move your raft continuously using the power of the wind. All you need to do is to direct it to where the wind is currently pointing.

GamePlay 1 (2): Raft

Managed to get further than last time...

As you may have seen from the image, I have now progressed further than my previous attempts!

As for why this is the case, allow me to answer these questions!

1. I finally learnt that not everything can be accomplished with the click of a mouse, and as such, re-tooled some of the controls I had set up for the game to accommodate this lesson. As such, I had learnt how to create grills for my raft, though, ironically enough, I had died of starvation a few seconds later.
Being able to finally drink fresh water in the game was a huge relief for me, despite being able to do so with ease in real life.

2. See question 1.

3. I should try to craft a fishing rod and grill a bit earlier, and maybe also not indulging on TUBERS! as soon as I get them.

4. See above (the top, in this case)

Game Journal 1: Raft

This is a game I never even heard of until yesterday.

Apparently it's another one of those games in the "Like Minecraft, but Realistic" genre, much like ARK, where, if you die, you lose EVERYTHING. You gather resources by right-clicking, and using those resources to re-build your dinky little raft into something worth living in as it repeatedly gets chomped apart by hungry sharks.

Resources come in FOUR flavors, for some reason they drift the ocean with no apparent source to their existence, the most common being wood and palm tree leaves, which are used to expand your raft and to build a water purifier which makes clean drinking water that you... somehow can't even collect despite having a cup made from the THIRD material, plastic.

You can harvest the stuff from detergent containers and the sad remains of rafts lost to the big storm that somehow brought you here.
You will also find wooden barrels floating about carrying rope, food, scraps, and blueprints for making radio transmitters so you can be rescued from this watery hell.

The only enemy you really have to face are the sharks, who lurk in the deep waters, hoping to take a bite out of you or your raft. You can eventually create tools to combat these Child Music Video stars, but it takes lots of wood to do so.

Wooden plank, wooden plank, come home

If you're extra lucky, you can score a BARREL! Contains nutritious tubers and weird blueprints for building radio towers...

JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT IT WAS- oh wrong franchise

Overall, the game is just another survival game held afloat by a unique premise and a decent multiplayer community. Otherwise, it's generally decent and easy to get the hang of unlike the other game I was forced to play.
