1. Starting over

Here's the list by the way:

1. Collect materials
2. Craft a plastic cup
3. Craft the water purifier
4. Craft a fishing rod and use it to fish
5. Craft a grill once you get metal
6. Craft a spear
7. Craft a building hammer
8. Craft a plant pot or find a shoe while fishing
9. Craft a research table and research all the materials you have
10. Craft a net and scarecrow

The best tool to make is obviously the water purifier, as there's no other way to obtain fresh water.

Essentials Part II

My raft as it currently looks, as taken from my new observation tower.





Once you develop a pot for your plants, you can grow those potatoes and other tubers by using fresh water. This is nifty as it means you don't have to rely on fish all the time. To make things even nicer, you can research a scarecrow to keep those naughty birds at bay.





To automate collecting and to not make it a struggle, a collection net can be researched to basically do that job for you. It exists simply to be convenient, but it allows you to tend to more important manners, such as NOT DYING.


In other news, I killed a shark in the game yesterday, and while it takes a good while for the meat to cook, it's most definitely worth it.
